About the Event

Join us at the library to watch a FIFA World Cup 2026™ match between Brazil and Scotland on the big screen in the Community Room! Cheer on your favourites and enjoy the excitement together in a welcoming, family‑friendly setting.

Feel free to drop in for all or part of the match—chairs will be provided. Let’s celebrate soccer, sport, and community (and remember to keep all cheering positive!).

About FIFA World Cup 2026™

The tournament is being co-hosted by Canada, United States and Mexico from Thursday June 11th to Sunday July 19th. 48 Countries are participating in round-robin matches before the knock-out phase starts on Sunday June 28th. Games in Canada will be held in Toronto and Vancouver. 

Watching Games at WPL

All WPL locations will show FIFA World Cup 2026™ games on display screens in the library, and various watch parties will be hosted at the Main Library, Eastside Branch, McCormick Branch, and John M. Harper Branch throughout the tournament.

About the branch

The McCormick Branch is nestled in the heart of the Lakeshore neighbourhood, providing exciting resources to its residents. The second oldest of Waterloo Public Library’s locations, the McCormick Branch is small but mighty and is part of the Albert McCormick Community Centre which features a large outdoor play area, splash pad and skate park.
