About the Program
Curious about where mysteries began? Join us for a lively Book Chat that explores the origins of the genre, from early pioneers like Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, and Dorothy Sayers to the lasting impact of their stories today.
Whether you're new to mysteries or already a fan, you’ll discover new authors, series, and must‑read titles - while also having the chance to share your own favourites. Come for the conversation, stay for the recommendations!
About Book Chats
If you love reading, discussing books, and discovering new titles, Book Chats is the perfect place for you. This series offers a welcoming space to explore a variety of genres, revisit old favourites, and hear fresh recommendations from fellow readers and WPL staff. Participate however feels comfortable - whether you read the suggested titles ahead of time and join the conversation, or simply listen and gather ideas for your next great read. Along the way, you’ll learn tips for finding books you’ll love, discover read-alike strategies, and explore special topics such as book awards and trending titles.
