Three experts share wisdom beyond myths about the mysteries of love and sex. Drawing on their research and clinical experience, Drs. Denise Marigold, Uzma Rehman, and Toni Serafani discuss relationship dynamics on diverse topics including online dating, sexual desire, pornography, conflict, insecurity, communication, marriage, and diverse gender and sexual orientations.
Denise Marigold, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Social Development Studies department at Renison University College, affiliated with the University of Waterloo. Trained as a Social Psychologist, she teaches courses about the psychology of well-being and about intimate relationships. Dr. Marigold’s research investigates social support interactions among friends and family members, as well as how people develop and maintain a sense of security in their romantic relationships.
Uzma S. Rehman, Ph.D., C. Psych., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Waterloo. Her research lies at the intersection of intimate relationships and sexuality and she investigates topics such as sexual communication, sexual desire discrepancies, and sexual well-being. Dr. Rehman’s research has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
Toni Serafini, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies at St. Jerome’s University. Her teaching and research unite around dating, relationships, sexuality, and identity development across the lifespan. Dr. Serafini is also a Couple and Family Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist with a small private practice and over 20 years of clinical experience.
