About the Program

Have big questions about your child’s internet use? Learn how to help them stay safe online while still giving them the freedom to learn, play, and explore. Dr. Sara Grimes—an expert on children’s digital technologies, rights, and well-being—will share research-based insights and practical tips for navigating kids’ online worlds with confidence.

This hybrid program offers two ways to attend:

  • In person: Visit the John M. Harper Branch to watch the live virtual presentation streamed on screen.
  • Online: Join from home using the Zoom link provided after registration.

About the Speaker

Sara M. Grimes is the Wolfe Chair in Scientific and Technological Literacy and a full Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at McGill University. Dr. Grimes is an award-winning author and Principal Investigator of the Child Appropriate Game Design project, an international examination of age-appropriate design in digital games. Her new book, entitled Kidfluenced: Children’s digital media-making, content creation, & cultural rights, explores findings from three major research studies she led in the past decade focused on mapping the opportunities and challenges of children’s cultural participation in the digital environment, and the implications for children’s rights, creativity, and wellbeing.
